2. Nutrition
We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Did you know that eating breakfast helps you lose weight? This is because breakfast sets the metabolic pace for the rest of the day. Your blood sugar level drops during the night and your body needs glucose to provide you with energy. Your body needs energy to burn energy.
The same is true about spiritual nutrition.
In Matthew 4:4 Jesus says:
“Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
Before you walk out the door in the morning, just take a moment to read from your Bible. If you want to spend an hour, that’s great, but I’m not saying that you have to have a Bible study. Open your Bible and read one verse. One sentence. I don’t care how busy you are, everyone has time to read one sentence.
No, reading the Bible in the morning is not a commandment. But I’m speaking from experience. Because all it takes is one verse to get your spiritual metabolism going. That one verse will sit in your heart all day long, stirring in your spirit, cultivating love and joy and peace in your heart. And then if you want to do your devotions at night, or on your lunch break, or whenever, that’s great. Make sure you find time each day to go deeper—it’s essential. But don’t forget about breakfast.
