Yesterday, Jen and I had off for Labor Day so we decided to head down to Letchworth and visit Houghton while we were at it. I haven't visited Houghton since graduation in 2006. Jen had never been there so I took her on a tour of campus. I wasn't expecting to see anyone I knew but we found our friend Heather and had a steamer/espresso with her in the coffee shop.
A few observations about Houghton:
1. Houghton is not the skate scene it once was. All of the curbs and ledges I used to skate have been cleaned of wax and there was no sign of skaters anywhere. Not that Houghton ever was too much of a skate scene... it was cool though.
2. The campus center now looks like Starbucks. I wasn't expecting that.
3. The skyway is neat but I was totally lost once I got into the library. I couldn't even find the stairs.
4. The chapel renovations look great.
5. Houghton's not the same without my classmates. It's almost a different place.
After we went to Houghton, we headed over to Letchworth and walked the gorge trail. Then we both got a hotdog and read about the history of Letchworth. It's actually quite interesting.
It was a great day and I enjoyed spending time with Jen. I needed a week off after some long nights of working last week.
