Church at the Movies is weird?
Every once in awhile I'll hear someone say that church at the movies sounds weird. Really? I think having church in a movie theater is VERY cool! Honestly, I never felt comfortable in old, traditional churches. I'm not putting them down at all. I think God made churches different on purpose.
He knows not everyone likes vanilla. I didn't grow up in a church and when I first started going, it felt very foreign & weird to me. I was in my late teens the first time I walked into a church. I had never heard organ music before. Everything felt so strange to me, I wasn't sure I ever wanted to go back.
It's actually strange to me that some people associate God with a building, or a tradition or a specific denomination. I came to know God and Jesus through the Holy Spirit first. Maybe that's why it's so easy for me to just think of God as Spirit and not see Him in the physical.
I have loved the movie theater since the first time we had a service there. It's awesome to have the theater seats, lighting, big screen and the smell of popcorn in the air! I'm convinced God loves it too. I think God is more concerned about the spirit that the people bring than He is about what the building is like.
We usually have new visitors almost every single Sunday. The thing I keep hearing over and over again from them most is that they have never experienced God's presence so strongly in a church or anywhere else for that matter as much as they experience His presence in our worship services. That is sooo very awesome to hear!
God is definitely with us at the movie theater!
I can't wait to see Him show up every Sunday!
Pass the popcorn and praise the Lord!
