Spitzer: Sorry, Thanks, and Goodbye

It is a sad day for our country to see such a prominent leader admit his guilt for such a horrific moral failure.  I could hardly look at his wife as she stood by his side while he publicly said, sorry, thanks and goodbye.

I wonder how long it will take for his daughters to heal from such a deep wound?  I think about how hard so many people must have worked to help him become our govenor.  They believed in him.  They sacrificed & supported him.  The disappointment, the pain & the consequences from his foolish actions have hurt sooo many people.

I think about our message last Sunday.  We reap what we sow.  Spitzer is definitely reaping what he sowed.  But the sad news is, we often reap what other people sow as well.  The Bible is full of examples of innocent people suffering for the sins of the guilty.  What goes around, comes around isn't always fair---at least not in this life!

But let's just turn that around for a second---remember---we also reap good things that we did not sow.  We are incredibly blessed to live in this country---to have the freedom & opportunities that we do here in the US is a huge blessing none of us have 'earned.'  Many people came before us and gave their lives so that we could have the freedom we have in this country!  We reap the good that they sowed for us!  So remember, it works both ways!!

And even of more eternal importance, think about what Jesus Christ sowed for us to reap!  Because of His sacrifice, because of what He accomplished for us on that cross, we can reap the fruit of eternal life.  Because of what Jesus did for us, we are set free from our sins!  Because of what Jesus did for us, we are given a gift beyond measure---we reap what He sowed for us---and none of us deserve that for sure!

It's so easy in life to think about what doesn't seem fair.  Yet, how easily we take all the good for granted friends.  Do any of us deserve all the good we have in our lives?  Probably not.  Life isn't always fair, and that can be a really GOOD thing sometimes too!

1 Chronicles 16:34-36
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Cry out, "Save us, O God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, that we may glory in your praise." Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.

Blessed Be the Name of our Lord Jesus!

See ya soon!
