The last few weeks have been intense. I doubt few people realize how many hours pastors work. My average work day for the last few weeks has been about 15 hours....I usually start working at 7am and don't usually end it until 10pm. Some nights, I don't get home until after 10pm! This week I've had a meeting every single night.
I am amazed at how much stamina the LORD has given me. I know there is no way I could keep up this pace on my own power. I have also been feeling the need to find more balance of rest and spending one on one time with the LORD. Throughout the summer, I think I've done a better job of finding that balance. But I also know I have to accept the fact that there will be times, like the last few weeks, when it is simply not possible to take that time off.
I am very energized by all the exciting things happening at BHCC recently. One of the things I love most about being a pastor is I feel like I get to peek inside the lives of many people and SEE GOD! I see so much spiritual growth in some of our people and see God working miracles in their lives and in them!
The church is an amazing, LIVING organism. All of us together make up ONE incredible, wondrous life form. Right now, BHCC is growing and thriving in many different ways. I think God has given me the gift to see the inner workings of His Body. It's like I can feel the pulse and temperature of the church and right now, it's pretty HOT! :-)
Our people are very excited about the church! You can feel it! You can hear it and you can definitely see it! There's an upbeat, positive energy surrounding us and of course, we know it's God's Spirit! It's in the childern, the young adults and in every part of the church.
Our Fall Open House begins a week from this Sunday! We are praying for all the unchurched people in our community! We can't wait to welcome them to our church! We want them to know how incredibly awesome it is to be a part of a loving, church family!
I pray that BHCC can truly change many people's misconceptions about what God's church is, just as we have been doing! It's a place to find acceptance, grace, love, guidance & a whole family to become an important part!
We are so NOT like what most people think churches are like. I just pray that people will give us a chance to get to know us and see that we are people very much like them. We're not 'organized religion,' we're a family of God trying to show God's love in practical ways to our community!
I LOVE having Church at the Movies!!!
